| Columbia Rail Trail | Following an old railbed, the scenic Columbia Rail Trail spans 15 miles of Hunterdon and Morris Counties.
It is a part of the 150 mile Highlands Trail which traverses from the Delaware River at Riegelsville, New Jersey to
Storm King Mountain on the Hudson River. Due to its smooth, wide
surface, the Columbia Trail is a perfect destination to take the family for a hike or bike ride, or for a long cardio workout.
The trail features a long trestle bridge overlooking the South Branch of the Raritan river and the
Ken Lockwood Gorge Fish & Wildlife Management Area.
NOTE: The trail crosses a few roads along the way - use caution at these intersections. | Doubletrack | 15 Miles |
| Allamuchy - Deer Park | Comprising about 14 miles of mostly intermediate singletrack trails, the Deer Park section of Allamuchy State Park
is a great place for the intermediate rider to
refine their skills. Much of the trail network consists of moderately rocky sections interspersed some smooth stretches of trail. If you prefer a rockier ride,
venture to the northern section of Allamuchy, which contains miles upon miles of extremely rugged terrain and is recommended for an advanced level rider.
Or, for additional intermediate level trails head over to Stephens State Park, which borders Allamuchy Natural Area to the east.
Be aware that the trails here are multi-use. Bikes should always yield to equestrians and give these riders a heads-up if you come up from behind. Horses
spook easily when they see bikes. | | 14 Miles |
| Allamuchy - North | The combined area of Allamuchy and Stephens State Parks offers a large variety of trails for both the intermediate and
experienced rider. The northern section is geared more towards the advanced rider with lots of extremely technical rocky sections interspersed throughout the area.
Before venturing out into the 35+ mile Allamuchy North trail network, be sure to bring a map as many of the trails you may want to explore are not marked.
As you are riding, keep in mind that the white blazed trail snakes its way east to west through the park beginning at the Waterloo Rd parking lot
and ending at the Tranquility Farm Parking lot. | | 35 Miles |
