Schaeffer Farms Information
Location: Germantown, MD
Description: Part of Seneca Creek State Park, Schaeffer Farm is a multi-use network of trails that is very popular with local mountain bikers and hikers. The trails range in difficulty from easy to moderate with a number of technical obstacles and stream crossings distributed around the park that will keep it interesting for everyone. The trail surface is mostly smooth hard packed dirt over undulating terrain with a few challenging climbs. Typically the trails run the perimeter of the fields offering wonderful views of the scenic pastoral farm land and open mature hard wood forests. The signage is outstanding, MORE and Maryland DNR have placed accurate trail maps at the intersections of all trails making it almost impossible to get lost inside the park. Schaeffer Farms was an absolute joy to ride and is one of our favorite parks!!!

Directions: From DC, take I270 North to Exit 15B onto Rt 118 South toward Germantown. Go 2.8 miles and turn right at Richter Farm Rd. Go .6 miles and turn left onto Schaeffer Rd. Go .3 miles to the traffic circle. Take the 2nd exit and stay on Schaeffer Rd. Go .6 miles and merge left onto Kingsview Village Avenue. Veer left into the parking lot area. The trailhead is at the end of the parking lot.
